Researchers in ecology and environmental sciences
... have access to numerous field study sites, such as, Lake Carl Blackwell wildlife area, comprised of 19,000 acres, located 10 miles from the Stillwater campus. This area includes the 160-acre James K. McPherson Botanical Preserve maintained by the PBEE department.

The Ecotoxicology and Water Quality Research Laboratory (EWQRL) is located in Life Sciences West. The name reflects the developing scope of the lab to include both standardized aquatic toxicity assessments and research on the ecological impact of contaminants and other sources of habitat degradation.

The Soil, Water, and Forage Analytical Laboratory provides high quality soil testing, plant analysis, animal waste, and water tests for the State of Oklahoma and anyone who needs agricultural analytical services.

OSU DNA/Protein Core Facility:
Provides sophisticated biochemical analyses, vends specialized biochemicals, and manages a pod of multi-user instruments. The Facility's resources include a new ABI 3730 DNA Analyzer for sequencing and genotyping, a new OrbitrapXL mass spectrometer for proteomics, a new Typhoon fluorescence imager, state-of-the-art real-time Q-PCR, and much more. The three scientists that staff the Facility have more than seven decades of cumulative experience in molecular biology and biochemistry.

OSU Microarray Core Facilities (OMCF):
High-throughput and information-rich genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics require instrumentation and data analyses capable of processing large sample sets. The Array and Informatics Cores provide high-density (100,000 probes per slide) DNA microarrays. Highly specialized arraying can be performed for genotyping efforts and biodiversity projects. A large suite of bioinformatics capabilities, full-time informatics personnel, and sophisticated computer systems are available for users.

The OSU Microscopy Laboratory:
The OSU Microscopy Laboratory is a multi-user, shared instrumentation facility for materials research spanning from nanotechnology to biology and medicine. It is located in Suite 104 of the Venture 1 Building in the Oklahoma Technology and Research Park, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Analytical capabilities of the Facility include microscopy via electron beams, force probes and visible light; nanomechanical and nanotribological probes. Established in 1977, the Lab has served as the central research, teaching and training center for microscopy of OSU for 30 years. A full range of services are offered including full service from sample preparation to final imaging, partial service which includes just sample preparation or support service in which the investigator performs the work using the Lab's equipment. The lab houses both scanning and electron microscopes equipped with digital and X-ray analysis capabilities, plus a confocal microscope. The new full-service laboratory will offer a broad range of services for university and industrial clients. The resolution of the new electron microscope is sub-nano, so you can look at protein structure, molecules and DNA.

High Performance Computing:
The OSU High Performance Computing Center provides resources, expertise and education to students, faculty and staff so they may learn to use high performance computing resources in their research and education. The HPCC mission is to facilitate computational research and education across Oklahoma.
