Prospective Students
To ensure full consideration, you should directly correspond with one or two members of our faculty whose research most closely matches your own interests. Initial contact should be made several months prior to the semester of admission.
Application procedure
Submit your application materials
• Fall semester: End of February
• Spring semester: End of September
Early application is strongly advised for full consideration and support!

Submit directly to the Graduate College
• Information requested in the (domestic/international) online application form
• Official transcripts of ALL colleges/universities attended
• Nonrefundable application fee ($40 domestic or $75 international)
This fee CANNOT be waived or paid by the Department.


Submit directly to the Graduate Coordinator
• A statement describing your long-term professional goals and your thesis/dissertation research interests
• A curriculum vitae summarizing your academic and professional accomplishments
• An abstract of the M. S. thesis, if applicable
• Letters of recommendation from three (or more) persons, sent directly to the Graduate Coordinator by the referees
• Official GRE score reports (If you know your scores before the official report arrives, please tell us.)

Additional requirements for International Students
• Minimum ibT-TOEFL (internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores
  M.S. applicants: 79
  Ph.D. applicants: 88
• Financial affidavit in accordance with OSU requirements
